Hello,
I'm unable to emerge xorg-server.
The error message is :
* CONFIG_DRM_RADEON_UMS: should not be set. But it is.
* CONFIG_FB_RADEON : should not be set. But it is.

Too little information, all we can see some ebuild is checking certain kernel configuration options.

Maybe you haven't configure well kernell... DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) and FB (Frame Buffers) should not be set.
From messages it seems that should not be enabled.

If it really depends on the kernel, and I'm not mistaken, you must to reconfigure Kernel:
- manual configuration of kernel (see installation handbook)
or:
- "genkernel --menuconfig all"
and here you must deselect (NO "*" symbol in the article regarding DRM and FB);
then kernel will be rebuild.

But before doing so delicate operation, wait tips on who is more experienced than me.

These messages are just warnings, not errors. They will not prevent you from emerging xorg-server.

(either in a post, or the entire file in a pastebin)

"emerge --ask app-portage/mirrorselect"

Try ping command.
If ping works fine, is it possible that you don't insert "SYNC=..................." line in your /etc/portage/make.conf?

Three Stooges would have this kind of discussion if they were running Gentoo. :wink:

That's not funny!! I thought I'd logged into the Ubuntu forums, by accident, for a minute there... :wink:

11:30 my time I pointed out DNS is not configured properly.
Then you emphasized the same thing.
It is 13:20 my time now and they are still discussing emerging stuff and whether ping works or not. If it is not funny then this is sad. Due to my nature I prefer funny.

Sorry I forgot to add the #sarcasm hashtag - but I thought the wink would give it away :lol:
My, my isn't this thread going off into the weeds, and then some... 8O

@Rihab

To be more serious for a minute ... I would suggest starting another thread entitled "Internet access / DNS resolution not working" under the forums subgroup "Networking & Security" ... You're not going to get very far fixing a Gentoo install - without working Internet access...
