|

I run Totem-3.16.4 under GNOME3. .mkv files do not start playing automatically. I need to click Play, and even when I do, there is no sound. Any help? Many thanks.
EDIT: This is what I get on the command line:
** Message: Missing plugin: gstreamer|1.0|totem|Opus decoder|decoder-audio/x-opus (Opus decoder)
** Message: Automatic missing codec installation not supported (helper script missing)
So, I went ahead and emerged media-libs/opus. That has NOT solved it. Still looking for help.

What you need is media-plugins/gst-plugins-opus to clear those errors. Can't guarantee it will fix your mkv issues though. |

That did it! Thank you very much!
PS I previously installed media-libs/opus, but that didn't help. The trick is that gst-plugins-opus requires media-libs/opus as a DEPENDENCY. I was on the right track without realizing it. |
