|
|
Hi folks,
i wonder if someone could write a QuickSetup guide on howto install a wiki.gentoo.org like mediawiki.
The site https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Gentoo_Wiki:About is quite outdated as the mentioned repositories are no longer available.
Thanks in advance

Done by myself.
Turns out to be quite simple, if you know where to look.
These are the needed steps.
1.
Install mediawiki.
I have used the latest 1.26.2 by using a custom ebuild but 1.25.2 should also be fine.
Code: | root #emerge --ask www-apps/mediawiki |
(Don't forget to install it using webapp-config if you have vhosts enabled)
2.
Clone Tyrian skin to <installdir>/skins
Code: | root #cd <mediawikiLocation>/skins
root #git clone https://anongit.gentoo.org/git/sites/wiki/skin-tyrian.git |
3. Install Tyrian Framework
Follow the instructions on https://github.com/gentoo/tyrian.
Afterwards copy the whole asset folder into the tyrian skin directory.
Now replace the CDN_URL in SkyinTyrian.php and every match in TyrianTemplate.php with your own asset Url.
4. Customize
Note: This is just the skin! Nothing else. Don't expect to have all Templates from wiki.gentoo.org.
That's it. |

While this reply comes rather late to be useful to you, it still seemed worth noting that the wiki article in question has since been updated. |

Unfortunately the quoted Gentoo wiki article gives very little detail, and the linked articles don't enlighten much either. Since Mediawiki 1.25 the method of including extensions (such as those required to support tyrian and provided as part of this repository: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/sites/wiki/extensions.git/ ) has changed. Most of the required extensions have not yet been updated to include the extension.json file required for the new style extensions, and my knowledge of npm, grunt and the like isn't sufficient to fix this quickly. All in all setting up mediawiki with the Gentoo tyrian customisation is proving too time consuming.
I hate to have to abandon it as the Gentoo tyrian customisation of mediawiki is excellent, but unless I can get past this hurdle I'll have to abandon the effort.
Is anyone prepared to give me some advice on this? I'd be very happy to contribute my experience to a howto or the Gentoo wiki if it works out successfully. |
