Have been running Plasma for a while now and I understand it is under heavy development.

Something I am missing from KDE4 though is to remember open applications on shutdown, I usually want four Konsoles with three tabs each open but now only occasionally it remembers (a few of) them. Is this something that should work, is there a setting I have missed?

I have not deleted any settings from .kde after upgrading, should I?

It usually should, but session management is still problematic. Some applications, like konsole, are troubled in particular afaik.

From when I last checked the problem is still some qt5 related bugs/lack of implementation. There were patches submitted but I do not think some made it to production yet for whatever reason. QT4 apps work fine last I checked. The qt5 ones mostly do not.

Here are some related bug reports from last I checked into it:

https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-45484
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-46310
