Is it possible to include PDF files inside a presentation made with libreoffice? A lot of the figures I make are stored in this format, so it would be very useful to be able to include them in presentations without having to convert them. Looking though the internet, this seems to be possible with the pdfimport plugin. Gentoo apparently includes this plugin by default, but I am still not able to use PDF images. When I try to include an image and select a PDF file, it complains with "Unknown image format".

The following is the version of libreoffice I have installed, along with the corresponding use flags.

[ebuild R ] app-office/libreoffice-5.0.2.2::gentoo USE="branding collada cups dbus gltf gstreamer gtk java kde (-aqua) -bluetooth -coinmp -debug -eds (-firebird) -gnome -gtk3 -jemalloc -mysql -odk -postgres (-telepathy) {-test} -vlc" LIBREOFFICE_EXTENSIONS="-nlpsolver -scripting-beanshell -scripting-javascript -wiki-publisher" PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="python2_7 -python3_3 -python3_4" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_4 -python3_3" 186,677 KiB

The pdfimport plugin does not work that way.

The plugin allows you to open a PDF in Draw, then you can embed that Draw document in your presentation. Note as your link says, text will not be scaled if you resize the image. So if you want that, you have to convert the text to curve/polygon first.

Another way is to embed the PDF as OLE object. For that choose from the Menu Insert/Object/OLE Object and then "Create from file".
