Hi,

I tried fluidsynth with jack, but I get no sound. jackd seems to stop or crash.
Alsa itself works. Since I found almost no info how to configure jack, i'm stuck.
Machine is an old thinkpad T23. Mobile Pentium3.

Audio section:

Code:

00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
        Subsystem: IBM ThinkPad A30/A30p/T23
        Kernel driver in use: snd_intel8x0
        Kernel modules: snd_intel8x0

This ist the output of fluidsynth, when started as root:

Code:

# fluidsynth FluidR3_GM.SF2 chuck_berry-JonnyBGoode.mid

Some links to get started:

For audio specific questions, http://www.linuxmusicians.com/ is usually a better place.

From what you posted, it's hard to see why jackd is crashing.
Follow the guides, and don't use root to start jack.
