Hi,

When I start my computer it attempts to start gnome-3.16 but fails with the message "Oh no something went wrong". If I go to a console using Ctrl+Alt+F1 I can restart gdm by using
Code:
systemctl restart gdm
but it gives the same result.

Interestingly, I can call
Code:
startx
and it logs into the gnome GUI. But I don't want to have to type startx everytime the computer boots.

Any ideas?

Curious if you're using ati-drivers, and whether it was updated recently?

I had gdm/gnome3 working with ati-drivers after a long time of it not working... It was crashing with "Oh no something went wrong" before but it appears to have been fixed with the new versions in portage.

I had this problem on a Debian workstation last week, because gdm user (Debian-gdm on my case) lost the right to talk to D-bus (via /run/dbus/system_bus_socket). (Re?)Adding Debian-gdm to the D-bus group (messagebus on Debian) solved the problem.
