Hi,
I have done fresh Gentoo instalation on my old laptop. I did as usually everything step-by-step from manual. After GRUB step instalation, and restarting the system and I am here:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:AMD64/Installation/Finalizing
Everything was fine, i loged-in as a root and first I did (as a Gentoo user) was:
and then I realized, there will be 266 packages to install. Is it this because I took kde profile by eselect? As they are mostly kde connected?
In previous years, after installation Gentoo, after first reboot and emerge -uDN world I think I hadn't such behaviour. |

Xywa,
At first reboot, world is almont empty.
It will have grub, cron and your logger.
will update them and anything they depend on.
There is an impliedthere too.
When you choose a desktop profile, you turn on optional X and GUI support for your system packages. Its off in the stage3
This means that both system and world will be rebuilt with this optional support which will pull in new packages.
They will not be KDE specific until you install KDE. _________________ Regards,
