Hi there,

I've had a very strange problem in the last weeks: when I run Java applications for a while (for example AndroidStudio or Eclipse), newly opened KDE applications (for example Dolphin, Konsole or Kmail) show graphical errors (see screenshot). I haven't experienced these errors with other non-KDE applications, e.g. GTK. And I also didn't see this problem while no Java applications were running. This problem only applies to newly opened windows, i.e. not to the ones already running. I can resolve the problem immediately by closing all Java applications and reopening the affected KDE application.

When these errors occur, I get messages like this in my .xession-errors file (repeated many times, in random order):

Code:

X Error: BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter) 4
  Major opcode: 56 (X_ChangeGC)
  Resource id:  0x0
X Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) 9
  Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea)
  Resource id:  0x0
QObject::startTimer: QTimer cannot have a negative interval
X Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) 9
  Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea)
  Resource id:  0x0

I googled around, but couldn't find a solution. Does anyone have any ideas?

Versions of possibly related packages:

  • icedtea-bin-7.2.6.1 and icedtea-bin-6.1.13.8-r1
  • kdelibs-4.14.12
  • qtcore-4.8.6-r2 and 5.4.2
  • kwin-4.11.22
  • xorg-x11-7.4-r2
  • xorg-server-1.16.4

Thanks,

R.

Using oracle-jdk instead of icedtea-bin-7.2.6.1 solved the problem for me.

As I've already posted here:https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7897522.html?sid=4f9b80960a06af5cf8a1df0e8dbe6173#7897522 , maybe this solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gentoo/comments/3za7jd/x_error_bad_drawable_with_qt_apps/ enabling SYSVIPC in the kernel helpls.
