I have a gentoo boot cd, I am trying to fix an older fedora box. It uses LVM. Once I boot to the gentoo minimal cd, I can use lvdisplay and pvdisplay and see the volumes.

lvdisplay will show /dev/vg_hostname/lv_root as the path and lv_root as the volume name.

I do not see the /dev/vg_hostname entry in /dev. Trying to mount /dev/vg_hostname/lv_root will not answer up and fail..

example of how I am trying to mount
mount /dev/vg_hostname/lv_root /mnt/gentoo

haven't used lvm a lot so I must be missing something here...
