I have emerged roccat-tools and I believe configured my kernel correctly. I found and compiled the hid_roccat module and it seems to have built and be loading the others:

hid_roccat
hid_roccat_konepure
hid_roccat_common

Roccateventhandler is loading fine. My question is: Now what. How do I configure the mouse in all it's flexible glory. I'm getting mixed results with xev, showing some of the buttons working. What commands do I execute to configure my new hardware and make full use of it? It is working, but no better than any of the logitech or MS mice I've owned and used in linux. Is this just an xmodmap thing?

I have also configured my xorg.conf according to examples I have found online, substituting the particuars of my device, of course.

I have created and am in the "roccat" group.

Why xev, if there is standard gui-tool from roccat tools?
there is no need to create xorg.conf file for roccat devices.
also u need uhid module and create the following udev rule:
Code:
KERNEL=="uhid", GROUP="roccat", MODE="0660"

Also, you can find answers to your questions here - http://sourceforge.net/p/roccat/discussion/989581/

What i am asking is: how do i access the gui tool? What is the command? Has it not appeared in my de because im using lxde? The only thing that appears to have been installed is roccateventhandler.

I have the udev rule you described.

The only binary that was installed for me is roccateventhandler. Did i need a USE flag to build for my mouse? There are no other roccat binaries in /usr/bin

'roccatkonepureconfig' returns 'command not found'

why don't you look at USE flags more attentively ?

Code:
echo "INPUT_DEVICES="evdev roccat_konepure" > /etc/portage/make.conf

Thanks. For some reason i thought it was a aingle a single package deal and was messing about with package.use. didnt expect it to be a global. I was thinking along the lines of a ./configure -- with* deal.

I think with newer versions of sys-apps/roccat-tools you don't even need those modules. All functionality is implemented in userspace and having CONFIG_USB_HID is enough.
