I have on my old Thinpad Gentoo with systemd etc.

I have had installed Enlightenment and ever since I deinstalled and installed XFce4 instead, I can't persuade Lightdm to start the system.

I thought that it had something to do with remnants of old sesson files for Entrance etc, but even though I checked everything I could thinko of, it still fails with a message that its greeter failed to open a session since a session already exists.

here is a result of "lightdm --debug --test-mode" :

Just to cut the noise, this seems like a critical part:

Quote:
[+2.39s] DEBUG: Activating ConsoleKit session 21289a790e5a8c78988b60b354fb8020-1442847127.809317-280785761

and here is journal snippet, belonging to that:

I forgot to add that ordinary startxfce4 works - I don't know about all the session details, but get into desktop...

I managed to solve it by upgrading to latest lightdm and lightdm-gtk-greeter.

I'm not sure which one was the culprit nor do I have the time to check.

I've noticed that one of them segfaults and tried to recompile it.- I thought I might have the same problem as mayn other had where it hat to be recompiled against new gtk+.

That didn't help, but upgrade did.
