Hi all,

Following the Gentoo wiki https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Multiseat (together with the Arch wiki, and some random other bits), I have succesfully set up a multiseat X configuration with two seats (each with own video card/integrated graphics, monitor, keyboard and mouse).

However, there is an unfortunate problem with this configuration: from within an KDE session, some keyboard shortcuts have undesired behaviour. For example:

  • Ctrl+S activates scroll lock
  • Ctrl+Alt+Delete reboots the computer
  • Ctrl+C kills the X server

Especially this last one is very inconvenient, as you can imagine.

Somehow, these low-level console shortcuts, that should normally be "filtered out" when inside an X session, are still active.

How can turn off these shortcuts? I have looked through the X server's parameters and the /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc file, but haven't found anything that seems to be relevant.

Thanks for any hints!

In the end, I found a solution: adding the following setting to the xorg config file
Code:

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "prevent input events from going to the console"
    Option "GrabDevice" "True"
EndSection

prevents the console from picking up these unwanted keyboard shortcuts.
