OK, this will fall into the 'extra fluff' category, but I use different terminals depending upon my mood. mostly I use Eterm and aterm and enjoy a dark background. With the dark blue folder text its hard to sometimes read the folder names. So I switched DIR_COLORS to yellow, and that was good. Unfortunately, now if I get a light in Eterm or white background such as default xterm, yellow is barely visible.

is there an example of being able to set a different LS_COLORS for different programs?

right now, I have been trying to decide on using dark blue with a white background or a yellow text with a dark blue background. This seems to work reguardless, but I thought it would be neat if I could set LS_COLORS based on which terminal I used.

interestingly, I noticed xterm switches the file color to black on the white background, but Eterm and aterm uses white for files! So it is possible I suppose.

I set dircolors for default against dark backgrounds (swapped color with FIFO since I dont see too many named pipes in a listing) to use yellow. I tried to setup a shell script to export LS_COLORS before opening the terminal but no luck yet. Shell still keeps the default. I can manually change it, but exporting it doesnt seem to stick.
