I use command line:
Code:
startx
to launch Xfce 4.12. Everything works fine until a recent Xfce4 update.

After the update, each time launching desktop, the desktop grayed out for around 2~3 seconds as the picture shows: http://www.funnypicpost.com/pics/yx6heg1f.html

The panel on the top shows normal while the desktop background and icons are missing. This process lasts for a few seconds. Then icons and background shows as normal.

This is the .xinitrc:
Code:
export GTK_IM_MODULE=fcitx
export QT_IM_MODULE=xim
export XMODIFIERS=@im=fcitx
exec startxfce4 --with-ck-launch

What you're describing is normal behavior. The same thing happens to me when I launch XFCE 4.12 through LightDM.

Atomic, thanks for your clarification. I wonder what causes the delay issue. I am sure before the update, there is no such delay.

You might want to ask upstream about that as it may be something that could be optimized.
