I am getting the above error message. I also get (on boot-up):
Code: | udev needs non-existent service dev-mount |
One suggestion was that open-rc was outdated, but they were both updated on the same day. In any case, I cannot update either of these because I now get:
Code: | # emerge --oneshot openrc
[[: /dev/fd/63: No such file or directory
Failed to validate a sane '/dev'.
bash process substitution doesn't work; this may be an indication of a broken '/dev/fd'.

I am making some progress.
I started /lib/systemd/systemd-udevd and then the /dev directory was working (this also allowed my LVM partitions to be available and mount).
So now I am updating world. I had not been able to do this because of some strange issues (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1021934.html), but those seem to have gone away following a re-boot and starting systemd-udevd. |

Do not make sense as a pair. Are you running systemd or openrc? You can't run both. |

Code: | # equery list "*systemd*"
!!! No installed packages matching '*systemd*'
# equery belongs /lib/systemd/systemd-udevd

sys-fs/udev-216 (/lib/systemd/systemd-udevd)
# equery list openrc

I am running openrc. |

After the above I was finally able to update openrc and the problem seems to have gone away. |

Awesome. This was a lifesaving solution for me, thank you!
Was in the middle of emerge world, and lost power. Had this problem after reboot.
Also do not have systemd, but was able to emerge openrc after running /lib/systemd/systemd-udevd.
Thank you! |
