[SOLVED] Brightness value not preserved across boots

Not sure if these two are connected, but everything started today after I sync'd the system. (They bumped the default Python version to 3.4). After reboot, the brightness level is always at its highest. It goes down when I manually adjust it in Gnome but gets reset after each boot. This may or may not be Gnome-related, so I posted this here instead of "Desktop Environments".

Previously, the brightness was being set during early stages of boot. Not anymore.

PS I run kernel v. 3.16.5.

UPDATE (7/28 ) : According to Rui Matos, "Saving the brightness value between boots is done by systemd, see 'man systemd-backlight'." The manual entry says that the brightness value is saved by default. This is consistent with the old behavior.

Look for this package : x11-apps/xbacklight

Check the amount of brightness that you desire then, you'll have to change something in .bashrc o .zshrc.

Add the following lines:

# Brightness

xbacklight -set 20

* The value depends on you.
