|
|
I just installed Gentoo Linuc after installing Windows 2000, so I decided to put the grub in the MBR and goot both linux and windows 2k from grub.
Well actually I installed Windows XP over the 2000 because it was crashing, and Windows XP overwrote my MBR, so now I don't have acces to Gentoo Linux.
Can anyone tell me how could I boot into my Gentoo system and put the Grub in the MBR like it was before?
Thanks |

sure,
boot to the gentoo cd again
load any modules you need
mkdir /mnt/gentoo etc and mount them (basically follow the instructions - but obviously don't format your hdd or bootstrap again etc..)
chroot into your new system
go stright to the section on installing grub in the doco
basically
grub
root (hd0,1) - whatever your /boot device is
setup (hd0)
quit.
you shouldn't need to re-do your menu/lst file cause that will still be there.
just exit everything unmount everything, and reboot
