Hi all, So I've finally completed my first Gentoo install and really loving it so far.
I installed kde-meta but I can't uninstall all the games. I tried to emerge --unmerge kdegames-meta
but they wouldn't uninstall. Am I doing something wrong?

Respectfully

kdegames-meta is a meta package, which means that when you emerge it it pulls on all of the kdegames, however removing a meta package does not remove all the packages that were pulled in by it. So you would have to remove the kdegames you want to remove manually.

What might work (but I'm not sure) is unmerging kdegames-meta and afterwards running emerge -c which removes all the packages that are not selected by the user, and no longer depend on a installed package. therefore removing kdegames-meta removes the need for the kdegames and therefore nothing depends on them anymore, so emerge -c might remove them, but again I'm not sure.

The clean way is to use kdebase-meta instead of kde-meta, and add what you need manually. kde-meta is the whole of kde, including the games. It has kdegames-meta as dependency.

Yes, if you have kde-meta installed
No, if you don't have kde-meta installed, and only have kdebase-meta installed
