I updated last week and suddenly I am having major issues with a few PPTP VPN servers. My Galaxy S4 can connect to the VPN in question every single time, no issues. However, my Gentoo system is now doing this, every single time.
Code:

Jun 16 08:51:02 laptop01 pptp[5071]: nm-pptp-service-5026 log[ctrlp_disp:pptp_ctrl.c:916]: Outgoing call established (call ID 0, peer's call ID 256).

Jun 16 08:51:23 laptop01 pppd[5063]: Modem hangup
Jun 16 08:51:23 laptop01 pppd[5063]: Connection terminated.
Jun 16 08:51:23 laptop01 avahi-daemon[3744]: Withdrawing workstation service for ppp0.
Jun 16 08:51:23 laptop01 dbus[3398]: [system] Rejected send message, 9 matched rules; type="error", sender=":1.34" (uid=0 pid=5026 comm="/usr/libexec/nm-pptp-service ") interface="(unset)" member="(unset)" error name="org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod" requested_reply="0" destination=":1.36" (uid=0 pid=5063 comm="/usr/sbin/pppd pty /usr/sbin/pptp 172.74.149.232 -")
Jun 16 08:51:23 laptop01 NetworkManager[3478]: <warn>  error disconnecting VPN: Could not process the request because no VPN connection was active.
Jun 16 08:51:23 laptop01 pppd[5063]: Exit.

I am not sure what is wrong here. The server uses MPPE encryption (128bit) and I have the correct options in the VPN configuration. It worked prior to the update.

I figured this out. It is related to my firewall. I am not sure what though. I will continue this on my firewall thread here.

Solved! You can find the entire post here, but the solution was to allow the GRE protocol into the system. Apparently it does not work with the related/established rule.
