I have been using Gentoo for ages now (almost a year I believe) and love it. Last Friday I went through /usr/portage/profiles/use.desc and added every USE flag that I wanted globally supported to my USE flags in make.conf. I rebuilt and all is good, except the fonts in KDE are now off. My clock normally displays the time over the date. Now they overlap sideways. My konsole also has a smaller, harder to read font. Not sure why my fonts changed, I assumed that I would gain support for more fonts, but not have my defaults switched. Live and learn!

I added the "postscript" and "truetype" flags. My konsole default font is now "Monospace", size 9. I do not know what it was before, but it was larger and clearer.

Here is a screenshot of the clock. I removed the clock settings from plasma-desktop-appletsrc but after setting it to show the ISO date, it still overlaps badly. This screenshot was taken afterwards. What is wrong here?

It is like the program logic is reversed. It has a tiny time font when only the time is shown, but a huge one when I try to show the date.

Konsole defaults to monospace, but that is just an alias. To see what that alias refers to, run:
Code:
fc-match monospace

Your font looking different now, may be a case of bug #547150. Then downgrading to ~media-libs/fontconfig-2.11.1 should fix that.

Thank you for the link. I know that Monospace is linked to another, and I believe that this bug is affecting me. I have fooled with the fonts enough to make it usable again, and will simply await a fix rather than downgrading. Not a game-breaker for me.

Also, I have been impressed with how the Gentoo developers respond in the regular forums. I never got that in my days with RedHat YEARS ago (before the Fedora split) or when I used Debian. Thanks for donating so much of your personal time to an open-source project!
