I upgraded my kernel to 4.0 and Iost my sound. I reverted to 18.12 and sounnd didn't come back. Next day, when I booted computer it came right back. Then on next boot it was gonne. I followed ALSA wiki and re-did everything but no avail. Last night out of desperation I installed Skype, without rebotiing sound came right back, but on next reboot it was lost again. I am using Liinux mint KDE for now and wouuld love to go back to Gentoo. What information should I present so that you guys could help me trobule shoot?
I use hardened kernel 3.18.12
I have intel sound card
uses intel driver
USE=alsa enabled globally
have .asoundrc file in home dir
alsamixer is not muting anythiing
if i run sound test it is plalyin "Front left, Front rright" but cannot hear them.
(if misconfigured it usually gives me an error).
Sorry for the lack of information
