less behaviour

Hi,

I am experiencing a strange effect when using less as root. All keyboard command will only be prompted on screen instead of interpreted by less. For example using "q" to quit just prints the letter q.
Using less as a regular user everything is working fine.

I am using systemd.

Hope anyone can point me to a solution, since I already tried reinstalling different versions, from stable to the current ~amd64 version.

i would recheck your locale and keyboard settings. i had something similar on opensuse recently.
