|
|
Hello,
I'm trying to get libreoffice to work like it did before the update and trying to figure out why it's causing X to crash and burn.
I tried to pipe output from libreoffice to a file when I ran it with "libreoffice > outfile 2>&1". I got a single line of output:
Code: |
$ emerge --info app-office/libreoffice

What do you do when it crashes? How does it crash? _________________ backend.cpp:92:2: warning: #warning TODO - this error message is about as useful as a cooling unit in the arctic |

When libreoffice is run with no arguments, it displays a list of recent documents (or that's what I remember). I clicked on a blank document and it caused the X session to die and I had to login again. When it crashes, I have to login again as the X session dies. |

Anything cool in /var/log/Xorg.0.log after X has crashed? |

Nah, nothing unusual in there. Just looks like it started up twice. Almost as if it closed cleanly and started a new session. |

You may want to check your video driver. One of my systems uses x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel and after an upgrade to x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917 I began to see weird problems (eg screen not painting properly) and some X crashes. I ended up masking that version to return to previous stable one (x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.21.15) and those problems went away. 2.21.15 is not perfect (eg I occasionally get text rendering problems in FF) but I can live with that. |

I rebuilt xorg-server xorg-drivers xf86-video-ati xf86-input-evdev and xf86-input-synaptics, enabled builtin kernel blobs and used the Radeon article on the gentoo wiki to select the correct firmware to include. I set the base firmware directory to /libs/firmware and I made radeon builtin instead of a module. It all works the same as before which is good, but libreoffice still crashes X. |
