Hey Gentoo Jedi level Users,

I was wishing to make a request for details information on how to construct a /etc/make.conf for desktop experience.

I am coming back to gentoo a form a absence and I wish to have realitiely lean, optimized system.

When is look at explain the some people have posted in forum the look way more extensive than is suggested by the current wiki. Which make me think there are options that I have that might be obsolete or options that I am missing that might be useful.

I would appreciate any advice or recommendation, but I would think that it would be nice to have it in the wiki where it can be maintained (which I have happy to help with)

This is a copy of my old make.conf, but I have look at install on my Macbook pro retina.
Code:

# These settings were set by the catalyst build script that automatically
# built this stage.
# Please consult /usr/share/portage/config/make.conf.example for a more
# detailed example.
CFLAGS="-march=”native"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
LDFLAGS="-Wl,--as-needed"
# WARNING: Changing your CHOST is not something that should be done lightly.
# Please consult http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/change-chost.xml before changing.
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
# These are the USE flags that were used in addition to what is provided by the
# profile used for building.

Charles17,

yes thanks for that link, I have read it. I guess I'm asking if the are useful desktop options / tweaks that are not detailed in the wiki. for example they I plan on adding avx for processor options
