I did depclean and it deleted .confing file I have a file named config-3.18.9-gentoo and its content as follows:

can I rename this file as .config put it in the linux-3.18.11-gentoo folder and use it as template?

Yes, you can do it, then do a
Code:
make oldconfig
to make the .config compatible with the 3.18
and do a rapid check with
Code:
make menuconfig
on the main points : partitions, primary disk chipset, network drivers, ...

If the correspondent option was compiled into kernel, you can also get .config of the running kernel from /proc/config.gz (it is gzipped, so copy into into .config.gz and gunzip)
