|
|
I liked Gentoo so much, I moved it off my slow IDE drive and now am on one of my SCSI drives. The drive is a little older 7200rpm IBM drive, but it'll be much snappier than the preview 4gig IDE drive.
Here's my problem: I cannot get Gentoo's installer to see the SCSI drive properly. Initially, when I boot, I cannot see anything off /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc. With some searching on the forums, I came across:
Code: | mknod /dec/sda b 8 1 |
That got the /dev/sda recognized. With fdisk, the entire drive is about 16 megs (should be about 4000megs). Any tips or help? My hardware is the following:
AthlonXP 1800 (1.53ghz)
512 Megs of ram
Adaptec 2940u2w
1x IBM (SCSI ID0, connect to Ultra channel)
2x Quantum Atlas 10x (SCSI ID4, 6, connect to Ultra2 channel)
Thanks,
vash |

On the install screen, there are modules that are shown to be loaded upon starting and the aic one is loaded upon booting. I did figure out how to get the entire drive seen, I use:
Quote: | mknod /dev/sda b 8 0 |
That did the trick and I'm installing now.
