I haven't found reference to this anywhere online yet. But running Google Chrome 43 (alpha channel), the UI elements are HUGE.

It's like it's adjusted for an 800x600 screen, even though I'm on 1920x1080. No other programs have this problem - Google Chrome 42 (the beta channel). I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Maybe chrome thinks that you have a HiDPI display? What does xrandr say about your physical display size?

You can try launching chrome with the --force-device-scale-factor=1 parameter (or some other value, higher means bigger UI controls)

This is a reasonable theory - my resolution is around 160 dpi. xrandr says that the dimensions are 309×173mm, which seems about right (i don't have a ruler handy, but a comparison against an 8.5×11 sheet of paper looks about right).

That flag doesn't seem to do anything though. I've tried .5, 1, and 2 and the UI elements are always the same size.

Is there some other way I can lie to chrome, or get it to behave differently?

Same problem now with the latest version on the stable channel (43.0.2357.65_p1).

DP-0 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 382mm x 215mm
1920x1080 60.00*+ 119.97 109.97 100.03

This works for me:
./google-chrome --force-device-scale-factor=1

It never worked for me, but it magically fixed itself, almost as magically as it broke in the first place - it might have coincided with the upgrade to v44, but I'm not sure.
