I have been following the following guide:
http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/TinyGentoo
to install tiny gentoo on a USB flash drive, is there someway I can do the same steps(copying stage files) with grub2? maybe any other way I can install grub while using as little space as possible?
thanks |

You can install grub from host system. Copy files on pendrive and run regular installation from outside of chroot. Grub legacy has grub-install which allows you specify options like --root-directory=/mnt/pendrive /dev/flash. Interactive shell for manuall install is also available there, perhaps grub2 has similar features.
Definitely do not emerge it into your target. You will never need those tools again after you set it up, and you can set it from host. Or from some build environment - I used to start with a clean stage3 as a build root to raise a wall between my system and the one I was after. |

hmmm I'm using grub2 and whenever I try installing that I get:
grub-install: warning: filesystem 'ext2' doesn't support embedding
grub-install: error: filesystem btrfs doesn't support blocklists
I have no btrfs partitions on that usb stick though, the only fs there is an ext4 fs
