Perhaps the first site forces a compatible font, while the other doesn't?

Both seem to work for me with opera-12.16_p1860-r1. I have set DejaVu Sans for the normal font, and DejaVu Sans Mono for monospace from Opera's preferences.

Hmm, actually looking at the style info of the page, I see references to the Arial font (media-fonts/corefonts).

Perhaps that's what it's using for me... I'm not entirely sure.
