Hi

There is such information:
Quote:
Since we are now based on Qt5/KF5, you NEED KDE Frameworks 5 to run Kdenlive.

https://kdenlive.org/node/9433

So as a Gentoo user with KDE4, what should I do to use Frameworks 5, as is not yet in portage. Do you have any news in this area?

So I will stay with portage for now. Is there news blog about progress in moving new KDE into official Gentoo tree?

Kde Plasma 5.3 and Frameworks 5.12 are already in the regular portage tree without using the kde-overlay. However from what I see all of the :5 (qt5 slot or what some call the "Kde5 apps") are all in the kde-overlay currently. To use those you have to unmask them (package.unmask) and possibly keyword them (package.accept_keywords).

I use the git commit logs to monitor the overlay here:
https://gitweb.gentoo.org/proj/kde.git/log/

Usually when something is moved to the regular portage tree you'll see them drop/remove it from the overlay and often they make a note about it. Then of course you can use tools like 'eix' to check as well.

Some of the people from the kde team/overlay post here so maybe one of them might have an idea as to when some of the qt5 apps are possibly moving to the regular unstable portage tree. I know I tried to install kdenlive a few times from the overlay but kept hitting problems related to mlt. I should try it again and see how it is doing and maybe file a bug report if there is still an issue.
