Hello guys, just today I thought it is the right moment to upgrade my legacy udev to modern eudev. However I was too late to realize that eudev is not supported on my pretty recent 2.6.32 kernel. Now I have neither udev nor eudev on the server, and the only way for me is to fallback to udev 171, however some distfiles are now gone alltogather from all distfiles mirrors. So if anyone happen to have some of these old files on their servers or workstations, please kindly share them with me.

You should probably make it clear that you use the longterm-supported 2.6.32.65, lest anyone get the false impression you're running a dangerously unpatched kernel...
Are you sure you even need eudev for a server? mdev would work just as well (and is very well supported here) if you're not using custom udev rules. |

Thanks guys, I will try the mdev way first since it seems to be more or less supported and will fallback to udev-171 if that fails.
BTW the kernel is Linux s 2.6.32-openvz-feoktistov.1-srv6 #28 SMP Sun Jul 28 15:21:50 MSK 2013 i686 Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Might be old, but works great nontheless.  |

non7top ... there are basically two methods, the first in sys-apps/busybox[mdev] and the other is sys-fs/mdev-bb::foo-overlay. You can use mdev-like-a-boss (also available via the foo-overlay) with either of these, if you want some additional helpers (like settle-nics for /etc/mactab), an /etc/mdev.conf, etc.

| Thanks guys for your feedback. I tried the mdev thing, but faced issues with /dev/diskby-* files were missing. These are usefull and I relied on them heavily. So afterall I ended up with re-emerging udev 171. That one worked flawlessly and my system is back to normal state - works stable and does it's job as expected. |
