Neddy,

Here the line:
default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/kde *
EDIT: I checked in my other machine and there is also the same line:
Code:
selinuxfs on /sys/fs/selinux type selinuxfs (rw,relatime)

Did you see my remark in previous post regarding missing rootfs in mount output?

pmam,

That's OK. You have selinux in your kernel but none of the userspace things.

The rootfs on /, output from mount, is a symliny, which as far as I know, is not used.

Neddy,

I am asking about rootfs since all my other machines have like that:
Code:
 mount
rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
/dev/sda4 on / type ext4 (rw,noatime,data=ordered)

pmam,

I don't know where it comes from. I have it, so its not udev as I don't have any /dev manager at all.

What is rootfs?
---------------

Rootfs is a special instance of ramfs (or tmpfs, if that's enabled), which is
always present in 2.6 systems. You can't unmount rootfs for approximately the
same reason you can't kill the init process; rather than having special code
to check for and handle an empty list, it's smaller and simpler for the kernel
to just make sure certain lists can't become empty.

Most systems just mount another filesystem over rootfs and ignore it. The
amount of space an empty instance of ramfs takes up is tiny.

If CONFIG_TMPFS is enabled, rootfs will use tmpfs instead of ramfs by
default. To force ramfs, add "rootfstype=ramfs" to the kernel command
line.

NeddySeagoon,

OK - Time as arrived for decision:
If there is any info that you need in order to solve this issue, please let me know.
If not - The only option I have is to re-install the system- Right? Or is there any other option?

You and all the long queue behind you  -
What can you see with access to my machine, that I can not check and put here the output?
Please advise - if it is not too risky to expose my machine, and if you can have some extra info -
I will consider to do it. I am curious too to know - if I did something wrong so I will not do it again,
and if there is a bug in the system, it is also important to fix.

pmam,

We can't see any more that you can but with not root ssh access, helpers can look faster.

Lets look over your setup. Do you have a /etc/make.conf?
If so, please merge it with /etc/portage/make.conf and rename /etc/make.conf to /etc/make.conf_not_used so portage does not find it.

There is a priority order if you have both files but you will get confused. /etc/portage/make.conf is the correct location.

Please post the entire content of /etc/portage. Thats the content of every file below /etc/portage
I expect that there is a one liner to feed that to wgetpaste but I don't know it.

Post the output of
Code:
emerge --info

Post the content of /var/lib/portage/world

Post your current /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Post /etc/X11/xorg.conf, if you have one

I'm out of ideas but a complete consistant data set may help.

I think you have pieces of an old xorg that was not installed by portage, or was perhaps from an overlay lying around and its beind found before your nem portage installed version.
Such installs normally go to /usr/local
What files do you have there?
They may also go to /opt ... what do you have in /opt

There are good reasons why packages install to /opt and /usr/local but not for Xorg.

NeddySeagoon,

Here the outputs - Hope it can tell something...

Quote:

No.
Quote:
Post /etc/X11/xorg.conf, if you have one

Dont have.

Quote:

I copied these content from my other machine but it is identical:
Code:
drwxr-xr-x 2 root    root    4096 Mar 27  2014 bin
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root    root       5 Mar 27  2014 lib -> lib64
drwxr-xr-x 2 root    root    4096 Mar 27  2014 lib64
drwxr-xr-x 5 portage portage 4096 Feb 11 00:21 portage
drwxr-xr-x 2 root    root    4096 Mar 27  2014 sbin

Quote:
what do you have in /opt

Two directories: googlearth and icedtea-bin (dont remember what this package stands for?)

I dont know if it is important but - Due to installing cross compilation of distcc I installed ovelay,
and changed package.use to directory with the file: package.use_file.

NeddySeagoon,

Here another thing that you have asked:
Quote:
Please post the entire content of /etc/portage.

I see one extra file that dont have in the other machine and it has to do to what you said about make.conf:
I have a file called: make.conf.old - Please inform me what to do with this file?

Jaglover,

After new clean installation, I got the same X server problem.
Now by elimination, I can assume that it is not up to my installation/configuration mistakes, and can be focused on compatibility issues.
Since this problem occurred after last system updating, I downgraded Intel, evdev,xorg-server packages, and X server start working :)
I masked newer rev with this command:
Code:
echo ">package.rev" >> /etc/portage/package.mask

Here the current packages rev:
Code:
>x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.21.15
>x11-base/xorg-server-1.15.2-r1
>x11-drivers/xf86-evdev-2.8.2

Here the previous rev that caused the problem:
Code:
x11-base/xorg-server-1.16.4
x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-2.9.1
x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917

BTW: It is quite weird 99.917 rev number??

Please advise how to handle this issue from all aspects:
1. Should open a bug?
2. How to manage the next updating system?

No one could not suggest me to downgrade... It would save me a lot of time and frustrating
Anyway, I have learnt an expansive lesson from all this trip...

Thanks you all
