I wanted to customize xterm.
therefore i created

cat ~/.Xresources http://pastebin.com/05mPfBsE

For some reason it is never parsed. I rebooted my box and xterm was as always with white background.

According to this https://unix4lyfe.org/xterm/ or https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/X_resources

When I used this and opened a new xterm the background is black as intended and therefore an indication the file was parsed.
Code:
 xrdb -merge .Xresources

So my questions:

Is this file not parsed anymore on bootup?
Do i need something else ot configure xterm?

I need to find a way to get copy and paste working with my mouse. When i get this done i can get rid of lilyterm finally.

I am still reading some docs about xterm in the meantime.

tw04l124 ...

not sure how you are starting your xsession but I have the following in ~/.xinitrc

Code:
xrdb -DENV_HOME="$HOME" -load ~/.Xresources

Ignore the -DENV_HOME if you so wish ... it just allows the use of that var in .Xresources instead of /path/to/user.

best ... khay

Thanks. That makes sense. I created .xinitrc.
