ati-driver 14.12 and r9 270

Hi ,

im having a problem with this card under gentoo and catalyst 14.12 ( 14.9 was working )

the problem is that my graphic card dosent reconize any screen ( hdmi , dvi... ) xrandr output is ''can't open display''

the command aticonfig --list-adapter give me '' supported hardware 6811''

but I have a backup lubuntu with catalyst 14.12 on a external hdd and it work without problem and aticonfig command give me ''r9 200 adapter..''

is someone else having problem with this card or any other r9 card

Did you install the recent kernel upgrade? One guess would be that kernel settings recommended here didn't transfer over properly:

you could check by searching in the file /proc/config.gz

Distros like ubuntu will usually package in a lot of helper applications that aren't a part of the official driver distro. Maybe check and see if some commands are missing in gentoo, and find out what isn't installed. You might need to find a gentoo ati driver overlay - although this shouldn't be necessary, and list-adapter is returning incorrectly, I would guess that the kernel isn't recognizing your hardware or something along those lines.

Might not apply, but if you run xrandr from a terminal I think it always responds "can't open display" - has to be ran from an xsession.
