I update our machines every 2-4 weeks, and mid-December we noticed that sudo was no longer requesting passwords after the first password had been requested (as far as we can tell if it does timeout it is in the order of days).

If I add 'Defaults timestamp_timeout=0' to the config using sudo visudo then it does ask for password every time, however any value greater than 0 doesn't appear to be obeyed.

Code:

Thu Jan 08 09:27:09 alex@alex ~ $ emerge --info sudo
Portage 2.2.14 (python 3.3.5-final-0, default/linux/amd64/13.0, gcc-4.7.3, glibc-2.19-r1, 2.6.32-openvz-feoktistov.1 x86_64)

app-admin/sudo-1.8.11_p1 was built with the following:
USE="ldap nls pam sendmail -offensive (-selinux) -skey" ABI_X86="64"

Interestingly, this roughly coincides with when sudo stopped storing timestamps in /var/db/sudo and started storing them in /var/run/sudo/ts... But as far as I can see the timestamps in there are correctly updated.

There are no errors in /var/log/sudo.log or /var/log/messages
