I use gnome 3.12 amd64 .
I find `Backspace` key does not work in firefox and gedit , but can work in gnome-terminal .
Here "work" means that if it can delete the letter before cursor .
What is the matter?

Until some Firefox versions back, the backspace key only always deleted the last character. Then Mozilla people changed it to navigate to previously visited page. With setting said value in "about:config" you can get the old behaviour back. |

I set browser.backspace_action to 2 , I still can not use Backspace to delete last character in firefox address bar, search bar and input area of web page .
The same problem exists in gedit , but not in gnome-terminal. _________________ i5-2450M, gnome, amd64

Did you check with a fresh and clean firefox profile?
And, what about the keybindings of your WM? You could check with firefox on X11 without a WM. |

I think it is something about WM(here gnome), because Backspace can not delete the last character in gedit .
But meanwhile Backspace can delete the last character in gnome-terminal.
So strange !

You know, in gnome `Backspace` is used to cancel shortcut in `Keyboard` of `System Settings`.
I may try to use Backspace's this function in other gtk application to cancel shortcut . But in that conditon Backspace's this function does not work, so this may change Backspace default function in gnome .
So how to restore gnome's default keyboard functions and shortcuts ? Where do those settings exist ?
