Hello, I am about to embark in formatting /home as LUCKS and using dmcrypt to encrypt my home directory. However I have a silly question and wanted do double check here before I do so. I currently sync across my laptop and my desktop at work via dropbox a folder that has non-sensitive documents. I don't mind if they are stored unencrypted in Dropbox's servers, but I wander if encrypting my /home could cause trouble on my sync setup. In principle as far as I can see there should be no problem: dropbox will only run after I decrypted /home and then the files will go to the cloud. On poweroff the harddrive will remain encrypted and dropbox shouldn't see the whole process of encryption/decryption. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Yes, the process is totally transparent to any service running on top of it, so no, you shouldn't see a problem with dropbox.

Thanks! I needed this extra feeling of confidence that someone else is confirming this.
