A couple of kernel recompilations ago, running ifconfig for the first time after boot is extremely slow, 30-60 seconds
this has ruined alot of applications for me(mainly networkmanager and its applet)
networkmanager cannot start until ifconfig has run for the first time(or 30-60 seconds after boot)

Linux localhost 3.16.5-gentoo #19 SMP PREEMPT Fri Nov 21 08:45:50 2014 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200M CPU @ 2.50GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

one reboot later and everything is fixed
I cannot determine what has fixed the problem, Ill try to figure it out
