I recently updated vim from 7.3.762 to 7.4.273.

I use vim for adding comments when I commit via "svn commit". That writes to a file generally named svn-commit.1.tmp or the like, that looks something like this:

Code:

--This line, and those below, will be ignored--

M    <file-name-1>
M    <file-name-2>

...where you add your comments above that first line. Since that update, the text I enter is doing all sorts of nasty, seemingly arbitrary highlighting and colors. I have no idea what's causing it, and doesn't appear to be related to the .tmp file extension.

Anyone have an idea where that might be coming from?

Thanks
Tom

It appears that the syntax file in version 7.4 at /usr/share/vim/vim74/syntax/svn.vim is seriously broken. Not sure what it's trying to do but it's clearly doing strange stuff.

For now I got the file /usr/share/vim/vim73/syntax/svn.vim from one of my machines that I didn't update yet and copied it to ~/.vim/syntax in my home directory and it's back to normal. I'm going to see if there are any bugs logged around that one.
