Haha...so the big news is that they switched to pulse audio. You know, I still don't even know what pulse audio is for...I just know I've never needed it. I like how Slack "continues to ignore systemd". That's putting it nicely. It's like they're giving Slack their official "Poterization" rating...

Since it seems that they already hard depend on udisks - hence polkit - and also pulseaudio (apparently not only for one exceptional application), I would say that this doesn't make much of a difference, at least security-wise. In such a state it might perhaps be even more secure to use systemd since it can run at least some of the stuff in containers, thus giving some illusion of security against uneducated attacks.

Even though it's not an ordinary distro (it's a firewall), Smoothwall Express v3.1 will change to eudev as of Update8/SP3.

And I've already noted that the new kernel (3.14) no longer creates /dev/shm. But that fix is a one-liner in the startup script.

Thanks for the tip, I've updated the list.

I'm assuming Update 8 will be released sometime this month.

Just uploaded Summer Isos have decided that it is time to be systemd-free. ArchBang now comes with OpenRC init by default.
