|
|
I'm running XFCE. For the pastcouple of days my weather applet has been reporting No Data instead of the temperature outside. I try to update once a week on Sunday. I tried remerging xfce-extra/xfce4-weather-plugin this morning. Is there something more I should be doing to fix this problem?

Smells like Gentoo bug #524850 and upstream bug #10916 -- I ran into the same issue. Very easy to workaround locally until the very busy Gentoo volunteer staff gets around to fixing it in-tree. |

I guess I don't understand. I downloaded the tarballs for xfce4-weather-plugin-1ff71669644a0b824a8a5ba9b40771ee4fb8a76b and xfce4-weather-plugin-7df303bc5fa649299e18efeb5d4b801614030488.tar.bz2. I untarred xfce4-weather-plugin-1ff71669644a0b824a8a5ba9b40771ee4fb8a76b, I ran autogen.sh, then configure, make, and make install. I logged out of xfce and logged back in, but it still doesn't work. I'm not good at manually building packages. That's why I prefer to usee emerge. What did the gentoo bug mean when it said 'epatch_user enabled'? Do I need to do a manual build of 7df303bc5fa649299e18efeb5d4b801614030488.tar.bz2 as well? |

You don't have to build it on your own. Simply put the patches from git into /etc/portage/patches/xfce-extra/xfce4-weather-plugin (create that folder) and reemerge the plugin. They will be automatically applied then. This is what epatch_user is all about. |

I don't know how to download from git. The tarballs I got were the full source code. They are each about 2.8MB... |

Open the two links from comment #10 in the upstream bug. Right-click on patch in line commit and save. Move both patches to /etc/portage/patches/xfce-extra/xfce4-weather-plugin. You can rename them, but keep the file extention untouched. Reemerge. |
