Hi,
I have access to a broadband internet connection in college but at home only dialup. I have been successfully using gentoo for a period of time by downloading the larger tarballs/packages from the ibiblio archive in college, bringing them home and using emerge (the smaller packages are usually easy to download over the modem) to install/upgrade.
Sometime it is a real pain to download the big packages by hand - for eg. if I wanted gnome2 there may be many packages to look for, some of these might be old (i.e. ones I already have) and if I miss one big package I would have to wait until the following day to get it and try to install again.
I know that this is probably not the best way to use Gentoo but it basically works best for me and I really enjoy Gentoo - its the best.
Does anyone know of a downloader, shell script or application (I have access to win2k, Linux, and Solaris) which would be able to download files from an address by attribute, i.e. size (everything bigger than 5MB), name (everything with gnome2 in it), date (everything later than June 5th 2000) etc and combinations of the above.
If anyone has a script, program or suggestion it would be much appreciated.
Mark
