gnome2 problem

hi, i've just noticed a problem whilst using gnome2.
if i click and drag on the desktop to make a selection, the "rubber band" leaves trails behined it.

has anyone seen this before? i'm using the same hardware i've used to the past couple of years under debian, and i've never had this...

any ideas? oh, i'm using the nvidia binary drivers.

i've searched on google, and it seems that this is a gentoo bug. as the only other instance of this i can find, is also of a gentoo user.

it's an amazingly anoying bug...i dont want to ditch gentoo, and i certainly dont want to use kde, but for now, i'm stuck.
in that thread above, the nvidia drivers are blamed, but i've used the same drivers on other distro's without problems. i've also tried using older binary drivers too.
