Three is a crowd, so the Tokyo faction has already achieved critical mass for a Gentoo Eating Party, I suppose. Having never been to the Sushi parlor rac patronizes, I'd be willing to haul myself over there any time.

I'm proud of you guys. Common wisdom dictates that geeks must follow a strict pizza diet. Either Gentoo educates on more than just Linux, or techies with taste naturally flock to Gentoo... 8)

Just wondering what ripped jeans would be like...

Had a sit-on-the-floor, six course Moroccan dinner this past weekend (complete with hot belly dancer).

Indian is also one of my favorite foods. I need to go back East to get a really good pizza though. I've not run into many since I moved away. One of my top 5 favorites was in Germany, but I doubt I'll be back anytime soon :(.

Hear hear! I'm lucky enough to live one block from a street that has four or five 'quick-takeout' Indian places ( for grabbing Naans while out walking ), and something like seven proper sit-down-and-eat ones. One of them ( 'Indian Fantasy' ) does a badass goan fish curry. :-)

If you're serious about a Gentoo eating party, I'm in...

By the way, has anyone tried the narcotic part of fugu? I've had fugu sashimi; it was... chewy. Not bad, but not amazingly good either.

rac, whaddaya think? Reserve a table for yourself, Carlos and moi at your favourite calligraphically talented sushi chef's restaurant? Possibly allow for one or two more Gentoo-worshipping acquaintances of mine, and whoever else may want to join...

Carlos, I'm afraid you'll have to slaughter the fugu yourself if you want the excitement over traces of Tetrodotoxin. It's also believed that all you can hope for is numbness in your palate and tongue, not a very pleasant feeling, reminiscent of a visit to the dentist at best. And if you apply just a bit too much, you die, of course.

My favourite parts of the fugu are the roasted bits of fin in hot sake. Nothing beats getting drunk on that stuff...

Whoa. Looking a bit more closely at the From: headers on the messages in my inbox from TLUG, I just realized how small the world is.

Hmm... Despite my having just graduated from high school I haven't really been doing much eatery-hopping, mostly because I still live at home and am lazy. I'll definitely do that when I head to Providence for college next year, but I'll be missing all the stuff here...

about the boiling water: if water boils, it keeps the same temp, so "boil water as hot as you can" is not really the thing to write here. the cooking temp will only change when the pressure is changed or the height
