Do you use an Nvidia card? If so did you emerge nvidia-glx?
You need to edit you XF86Config file to have
load "glx"
After that you can do an update-opengl nvida to switch to the nvidia opengl.
If you have a different card, sorry I don't know what to do _________________ Boricua Hasta La Muerte |

Yes, I use a Nvidia card (gf 4 ti 4600).
I have also emerged nvidia-glx
and finally I have uncommented in XF86config file the LOAD GLX line. However, when the Glx line is uncommented, I cant start X anymore |

There is an option to load DRI in the XF86Config file. I forget exactly where but it's near the top of the file. Comment that out. Also try to run
modprobe NVdriver a
s root. Does that return errors? If it doesn't make sure that you have that set in /etc/modules.autoload.
then do an update-opengl nvidia make sure that runs ok. _________________ Boricua Hasta La Muerte |

Hmm, are you sure you have "nvidia" in your xf86config file (instead of the default "nv" driver? this is _very_ important)
have you run "opengl-update nvidia" after you emerged the nvidia-glx? |
