Hi,
is it possible to exclude a package which does not want to install from the portage dependencies? Because I am sure I can do whithout this stupid "jadetex" which I didn't use before, and which doesn't let me install several other packages that I WANT to install.
For example, I want to install LyX ( https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=17441 , https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=17444 ), and portage wisely knows that jadetex is needed. But I run LyX also on Cygwin+MikTeX and there is also no jadetex, and LyX runs well. Not a *.fmt file in the ../texmf/web2c directory and everything is fine for me...
Other examples: Gnome2, sane (what the heck do they need jadetex for?).
Please excuse my anger, but I got really frustrated since few days not beeing able to get a distribution to be usable for me. Otherwise, I like Gentoo and the portage concept generally very much (use it since 1.2, but of cours, didn't have the time to learn about everything, as now I've got more important things to do, like writing my thesis in LyX).
With best regards, and hoping for some help,
Lucian |
