Hello.

How do I change the user, group and file permissions on every file under a specified directory? It's not funny to change all this by hand.

The command:
chown user dir/*
just changes the files in that dir but not all the sub directorys.

Thanks.

Well, a simple man chown would have told you that you are looking for the -R (--recursive) Flag.

Hth,
Larde.

P.S. man command or command --help most of the times will tell you the possibilities / flags the command has.
