hi there again everybody.

emerging netscape-flash was unable to let me watch swf clips in mozilla, so i emerged swfdec and libswf.

they emerged without problems, and now i've got the swfdec plugins in the plugins list of mozilla... BUT it doesn't work well at all... it stops after a few frames or just messes the movies up.

so... have you solved the problem in any way?

thanks

The "real" flash plugin is a closed-source 32-bit binary. So, if you've compiled your browser normally (as a 64-bit app), the plugin won't load.

If you compile a 32-bit browser (or emerge mozilla-firefox-bin, e.g.), the flash plugin should work fine.

flash player does work with 32 bit fiirefox-bin. You must install all of the emul-libs (emul-linux-x86-xlibs, emul-linux-x86-baselibs, emul-linux-x86-gtklibs) and install the 32bit flashplayer. And also the 32 bit mozilla-firefox-bin. It does work. Nice job to lv on #gentoo-amd64 on irc.freenode.net for finding this...

enjoy

Tried with Opera 7.50 TP3 and it didn't work. :( I thought it could work since this version of opera is 32-bit.. When a page with a flash movie is loaded opera hangs. Is there a way to get flash working with opera 32-bit?

Installing opera 32-bit on amd64.

But since I want at least one browser w/ flash support, I emerged mozilla-firefox-bin (x86) and netscape-flash (~amd64) and it worked! ohh and I emerged lib-compat (amd64) too before firefox.

Thanks for the tip.

getting mplayer to compile isn't a problem, and neither is playing divx with xvid. however, i want a 32bit mplayer instead of a 64bit one so that i can use 32bit plugins, such as the xanim plugin for indeo5 support, the linux realplayer for realmedia support, or win32 plugins for windows media 9 support and quicktime.
