help with german keymap on ibook2 - this kills me!

has anyone sucessfully installed a german keymap on ibook2?

if so, could you please point me to an installation instruction?

I don't have a german keyboard (a US one) but when I first installed Gentoo my key layout was completely bogus. The problem was I configured the keyboard as us and it should have been mac-us. After changing this everything was ok.
Could you have the same problem ?
Have a look in /usr/share/keymaps/ppc/all

thanx for your reply - but that wasn't the problem (i already tried this before, maybe should have mentioned it =)

the keyboard on my ibook is even bogus when i select mac-us - only us works properly

I'd like to see someone some examples of the keymap line for several different languages. It's not really clear what format it is supposed to be in.

Which one? I've tried the last two, which thoroughly screwed up my keyboard, but it would have been nice to know that before hand. For foreign users I have no idea.

This should be in the install instructions.

i have a german ibook2 (smallest, 600mhz, cdrom) and it works fine with the us.map.gz - but this, naturally, doesn't fit my keyboard-layout

believe you should get this file here:

looks like 2 updated keymaps for the ibook2 are in this file.
